Silkwood Wines

Welcome to Silkwood Wines, Pemberton

At Silkwood Wines (based in Pemberton, in the beautiful SW of Western Australia), we believe that good wine can only come from healthy vines grown on good soil in the right climate.  This critical combination imparts a depth of flavour and character that cannot be imitated. Our extensive search and establishment of the Silkwood Winery vineyard in the Pemberton region was based on this philosophy.

Our focus on quality at Silkwood is of the utmost importance, production control methods include crop thinning, selective pruning and reduced watering.  Guinea Fowl are used as a biological means of controlling insect pests, reducing the use of chemicals.

With this philosophy our aim is to produce boutique wines that our customers will be proud to share with their friends.

Pruning Season

In the Winery

A sample of the red wines in barrels recently has confirmed our first impressions that this year’s reds are going to be something to look forward to. The Pinot has some of the highly sought after earthy characters and a very smooth and supple palate already, one can only imagine how good it will be after some maturation time in French oak barriques.

The Shiraz is also showing a great mouth feel and lovely spicy characters at this early stage. We are experimenting with some American oak barrels from the Ozarks which are also adding interesting flavours and tannins to the Shiraz.

The white wines are all showing excellent fruit driven characters and have been cold and protein stabilised ready for bottling in the near future.
